Glynde Place offers couples civil ceremonies in the historic house or has a delightful Palladian-style church next door.
For up to 140 guests, we recommend The Gallery, a grand room at the top of the house, accessed via a sweeping staircase, and boasting huge, shuttered bay windows overlooking the Park and South Downs.
With a great sense of grandeur, The Gallery has wood-panelled walls adorned with historic oil paintings and can be set up for ceremonies in several configurations dependent on a couple’s wishes. Our team is here to help make this very special part of your day absolutely perfect.
The Marble Hall
Glynde Place also has a licence to host civil wedding ceremonies in the Marble Hall on the ground floor which can seat up to 80 guests. This serene space boasts a stunning marble floor, graceful pillars and two huge fireplaces. However, the majority of weddings opt to host their civil ceremony in The Gallery and then invite guests to descend the staircase and enjoy reception drinks in the Marble Hall which opens out onto The Terrace.
For couples preferring a church wedding, Glynde Place has the delightful St Mary’s Church next door. Blue Door Weddings can put couples in touch with Reverend Peter Owen-Jones to discuss the possibility of getting married here. Following the service, guests just walk directly into Glynde Place for the reception. In this instance, couples may choose to book the grounds only or use the House for reception drinks and photographs.
St Mary's Church
Following the ceremony, Glynde Place offers the perfect setting for your reception. The House can be used for reception drinks but on a beautiful sunny day, guests love enjoying drinks and canapés on The Terrace in front of the House overlooking the impressive grounds. Should weather be less kind the House offers a breathtaking space for reception drinks and of course the all important wedding photographs.
Glynde Place offers the perfect spot for a marquee just over the ha-ha in front of the House, accessed by a flint bridge. With sweeping views of the Estate but looking back at the House, which is illuminated by night, you can enjoy your wedding breakfast, speeches and party from your marquee.
Please note that the marquee is not included in the venue hire price and you will also require loos and a generator. Our team can make excellent recommendations if required.
The Terrace and Grounds
“Glynde Place is such a gorgeous setting. It really gives you the best of both worlds - the gravitas of a stately home coupled with a really rustic feel in the grounds. We loved the privacy and exclusivity offered along with the small, helpful team which helped is bring the whole day together perfectly. ”

Please note that we never hold two weddings over the same weekend and we give you generous time to set up and clear down. For example if your wedding is on a Saturday, the marquee can be erected on the Thursday so that you have all day on Friday to set up, and then until 4pm on the Sunday to clear down.
Glynde Place is situated in the village of Glynde which has a train station with hourly trains direct from London and Brighton. It is easily accessible from the A27 which connects to the A23/M23 with Gatwick airport 45 minutes away.
