Montague

Montague

Montague offers a stunning backdrop and wonderful facilities for weddings wishing to embrace the rustic, unique beauty of the farm and surrounding countryside.

Venue Details

Nestled in the heart of the East Sussex countryside with an 18th century complex of barns enjoying views over the rolling Pevensey marshes to the sea, Montague weddings will enjoy use of some of the most beautiful parts of the farm including a dedicated cluster of barns, especially converted for civil wedding ceremonies and receptions, and the use of extensive, private grounds.

A wedding at Montague starts at its gates and the lime tree-lined driveway which leads up to the farm itself. With dedicated wedding parking on site, guests can simply walk up the driveway and through to the pretty entrance to the wedding barns passing the old barn and stunning farmhouse along the way.

As you enter the wedding area of the farm, guests step through into private ground amidst the cluster of wedding barns which have been especially created with a stylish-meets-rustic weddings in mind. The first building, Pig Palace, is an 18th century single storey barn perfect for hosting a civil wedding, ceremony for up to 100, drinks or even a wedding breakfast of up to 80. With stone flooring, flint walls, beamed ceiling and panoramic windows overlooking the lawns and views of the rolling countryside, Pig Palace is an intimate barn with great style.

Weddings at Montague

Next door to Pig Palace, lies Big Barn which was originally a cattle barn and is now a lovingly converted wedding barn with walls clad in handpicked, reclaimed wood and featuring dramatic wagon-wheel lighting, windows repurposed from the original Orangery on the farm, its own bar and a pretty fairy-lit, white-draped ceiling.  Big Barn can host wedding breakfasts of up to 200, with plenty of room for dancing.

Finally and with real prairie-chic charm lies Montague’s dedicated bar. Originally a wooden cabin on the farm, this delightful space has been restored as a bar for weddings, boasting a stylish inside space, complete glass front and raised external verandah with fire pit from which guests can enjoy a drink and take in the incredible views.

The whole wedding area can be exclusively hired by couples who can choose how to use the space to reflect the size and style of their wedding. Montague also offers ample loos, shower facilities and the option of camping for an agreed number of guests. We can arrange furnished bell tents for you and your guests to create a wonderful glamping experience.

Please note that Montague opens for weddings from April 2021 with works currently underway to create the most unique of wedding venues. We are able to host viewings however and are offering a preferential hire price until early 2021.
